A new idea in contemporary mosque design is presented here. The nahr is an
architectural device used in indigenous stone towers of Asir region in Saudi Arabia.
It is used here to create a sense of direction and spirituality as it divides the
cylindrical shaped prayer hall into two halves and, give direction toward the qiblah
and provide natural daylight from the top. The result would be a grand single space
ascending to heaven, a theme essentially needed in contemporary mosque.
